Shan means mountains

Xuan means up and down

Shui means water

Cang means storage

Shan Xuan Shui Cang is digital installation project with series of silk-screens in the physical space. Four silk-screens make as a group and parallel with other three groups as a whole screen. Behind those screens install four of the same type projectors play with DVD player as a flow scale. The video of projection basically appropriated from famous Chinese painting artist MaYuan ’s piece “Ta Ge Tu” . Generally speaking, Chinese landscape painting is not a simple image of the natural landscape and more profound meaning of the minds in ancient Chinese literati landscapes, they draw the picture is not entirely copied the nature it came out with their feelings in a natural landscape scenery, scenic mountains and rivers draw their own perceived landscape some of the mountains and rivers are the real of nature, some probably do not exist, they are part of fictitious. Artist re-combination of mountains and streams hills and trees to set up a new visualization of landscape structure. The video projection will be looming in the 3D line, which is the new technology to re-interpretation of the mountains. The difficulty of recalls their relations to explore the meaning of 3D computer line and ancient mountains’ painting. Considering it as the destruction of the traditional landscape or imagining like the result of mutation of the ancient landscapes.

In the recent 2010-2011 Fall-Winter ready-to-wear Channel fashion show bring a real iceberg to a huge stage, Haiti earthquake and Chinese Sichuan earthquake that cause millions of people dead within a second. The constant advance of technology and society are continuous ruthless and keep bringing people to actively enjoy their greed needs. How long our nature’s sympathy will last for? In the background of those issues in digital age, artist designs a new digitalized landscape from her imagination. The graphic is about the interpretation of the concept of change: Value for dynamic & Variation of Landscape. Variability means that evolution and destruction. The piece is researching in the methology of Translation VS Transformation. In the cultural context, it is worth considering how the meaning of the narratives shifts.
