The Imperial Harem

On September 30, 2011, UCCA presents Hou Gong (The Imperial Harem), a multimedia performance by artists Feng Jiangzhou and Zhang Lin, the creators of previous multimedia drama titled Illusion. Both performances differ from traditional staged drama in their skillful use of music, sound effects, video, performance, and a mechanical stage. Compared to their previous multimedia effort Illusion, The Imperial Harem employs a more refined artistic language, and a stripped-down approach to sound, performance, materials and props. It is a full sensory experience in which multimedia tools are used to heighten dramatic effect, stimulate the imagination and draw the audience into the performance.
